Reflection Question:
What was your viewpoint regarding firearms, their uses and misuses, and legislation coming into the project?
Before this project, I believed that one should be able to have a firearm unless misused. It believed it is our right under the second amendment to have the right to protect ourselves. I definitely think that there should be some control, such a limitation on the amount of guns one can own. I also thing there should be background checks before anyone can purchase a gun.
In what ways was that viewpoint challenged by our class conversations, your research, and the exhibition? My views have not changed based on my research. They have however become stronger in what I believe in. My knowledge of gun safety has also improved as well as my knowledge of our country's gun legislations compared to other countries. Despite other classmates beliefs that no guns should be allowed because they are violent, I still believe we have the right to have weapons, that gun owner need to be trained on how to use guns properly and should be stored in a safe to protect children from misusing them. I do agree that machine guns should not be sold-there is no need to own a weapon that can shoot so many rounds at once.
What adversity did you face during this project and how did you overcome it/make your way through it?
The adversity I faced was everyone having their own opinion and differing opinion. The way I overcame that is by keeping an open mind and being accepting that we all have a right to our own opinions and differing opinions don't mean one is more right than another.
In what ways did you contribute to your group and the class as a whole?
I contributed to my group and the class as a whole by participating in the conversation, offering my opinions and listening to other's without shutting down or shutting them down for having a different opinion than mine.
What can you point to in the exhibition that is yours?
In this exhibition, I wrote 4 of the gun profiles in the gun safe room.
