Charcoal Drawing Project
Value is very important because it brings perspective and depth to the viewer's eye. In my drawing, you can see there are signs of chiaroscuro which is shown through the dark shading and the light outlines in the skull as well as in the wheels and in the bottles to the left of the skull. These effect represent the different values of the light and dark tones of the drawing. Chiaroscuro charcoal drawings remind me a lot of black and white drawings or pictures which in a way show elegance because of the lack of color. Throughout this project, I really struggled on how to make something look the way I wanted it to and the shading was also one of the most challenging aspects of this project. The constraints that I used to create this piece were kneeded erasers, light and dark charcoal pencils, vine charcoal, and a charcoal blending tool.
